FOPElab x Sara Scanderebech – A Dreamlike Vision of Italian Jewellery

The latest collaboration features Sara Scanderebech, an Italian artist and photographer, who reimagines FOPE jewellery within an emotionally charged, virtual reality-inspired atmosphere. Her work blends reality and imagination, crafting a dreamlike world where FOPE’s designs become timeless, floating between sophistication and technology.

Blurring the Lines Between Real and Virtual

Scanderebech’s photographic diptychs explore the transformation of a subject from something tangible to something otherworldly. For this FOPElab project, she envisioned a setting without time or space—an unseen dimension where fine jewellery becomes part of a surreal landscape.

“I started out as a painter, so I’ve never considered myself a fashion photographer,” Sara explains. “But when I come across projects that align with my own story, as FOPE does, I’m inspired to participate. My approach is instinctive, influenced by the openness of social media and the vibrant culture of Milan.”

Milan Inspiration Meets Nature’s Calm

Living in Milan gives Sara constant access to art, cinema, and music—stimuli she channels into her creative work. Yet she also seeks moments of stillness, retreating into nature to spark new ideas. This balance of immersion and introspection mirrors FOPE’s own blend of tradition and innovation.

Her concept for the FOPE project began with a simple image: a piece of jewellery resting on a screen. This inspired her to use elements from her own photo archive—abstract visuals that allowed the jewellery to remain the central focus while still inviting dialogue between craftsmanship and modern technology.

Technology Meets Craftsmanship

FOPE’s designs, with their signature Flex’it technology, became the perfect subject for exploring contrasts. Sara incorporated details of plants, animals, and human forms, reimagining them as new symbols in conversation with the jewellery. The result is a body of work that creates emotional tension—drawing the viewer in while keeping them slightly off balance.

“I love using new tools to create,” she says. “Digital media is part of my artistic research. Just as modern photography is shaped by technology, FOPE jewellery combines timeless craftsmanship with contemporary innovation. The Solo bracelet, with its yellow, rose, and white gold rondels, amazed me because of the way the Flex’it elastic links transform the wearing experience.”
